Requirements
- Be in amazing physical shape!
- Have 20/20 vision – this means your vision in particular is also amazing
– but this will probably change with time as improvements in vision care, eyewear and contact lenses advance.
- A bachelor degree in - engineering, bio sciences, physical science, or mathematics
– although it honestly should be expanded to those with a research or a mix fine art and science degree.
- Must be between 5 feet and 6 feet 4 inches.
Other requirements
- If you want to be a mission space specialist you need 3 years of work experience and an advanced degree
- If you want to be a commander or pilot you also need at least 1000 hours of flying time as a pilot in command.
- It is helpful to have a second language.
- To get in with NASA you must be a US citizen.

A Day in the Life
These are some of the things Astronauts do on a daily basis
- Testing air filters and air quality
- Repair and maintain various scientific instruments, equipment, and systems.
- Pack and dispose of waste
- Carry out experiments
- Communicate data
- Write and send reports
- 2-3 hours of exercise
- Away from home for long periods
